The NBCUniversal-owned cable network announced Monday that it will rebroadcast the late actor’s appearance on Inside the Actors Studio on Thursday, July 18 at 6 p.m.
During the episode, which originally aired April 9, 2012, host James Lipton asked Monteith a now poignant question: “If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?’”
“Cory’s God said, ‘Uh, sorry I haven’t been around. There’s a good explanation.’ I certainly hope there is. We needed Cory’s gifts,” Lipton said during the episode.
Monteith’s character, lovable lug Finn Hudson, auditioned for the Actors Studio on the series and was rejected. it propelled the character to a seasonlong arc to find his true calling.
The Bravo encore marks the first tribute to the Glee star. Monteith died Saturday at the age of 31. A cause of death has not been determined, and an autopsy has been scheduled for Monday. Foul play is not suspected. The actor voluntarily checked himself into a rehab facility in late March for treatment for substance abuse, marking his second attempt to seek help.
Bravo’s sibling network, Oxygen — which aired Glee reality competition series The Glee Project, also paid tribute to Monteith by dedicating its landing page to the late actor, while Fox is asking fans to share their memories on its site for the show.
