Kevin Biegel has found a home at ABC Television Studios.
The prolific writer/producer has inked a two-year deal at the studio behind his former co-creation Cougar Town. As part of the new two-year pact, he’ll work on his own projects while also serving as a consulting producer for ABC’s mid-season family comedy The Real O’Neals starring Martha Plimpton.
The latter, a semi-autobiographical entry from Dan Savage, revolves around a picture-perfect family that’s turned upside down when the youngest son (played by Noah Galvin) comes out of the closet. What seems like the end of their idyllic life turns out to be the beginning of a bright new chapter when everyone stops pretending to be perfect and actually starts being real.
In addition to Cougar Town — which ran on ABC before shifting to TBS — Biegel’s prior credits include Fox’s Grounded for Life, NBC’s The Tracy Morgan Show and — with Cougar‘s Bill Lawrence — Scrubs. More recently, Biegel created and executive produced the short-lived critical darling, Enlisted, for Fox. In an essay for The Hollywood Reporter, he opened up about how his own past, including a heart attack at 32, motivated the series.
Biegel is repped by UTA and Morris Yorn.
