Discovery Inc. has promoted HGTV and Food Network executive Courtney White to president of Food Network.
White, previously executive vp and general manager of HGTV and Food Network, will relocate to New York for the new job and concentrate solely on Discovery’s food brands. The change at the top comes as Discovery finalizes its acquisition of Food Network and HGTV owner Scripps Networks.
Allison Page, formerly president of HGTV and Food Network, will retain oversight of HGTV and continue to be based at its Knoxville, Tennessee, headquarters.
“Courtney has been instrumental to the growth of both Food Network and HGTV, turning talented home experts and everyday chefs into treasured, household names,” Kathleen Finch, chief lifestyle brands officer at Discovery Inc., said Monday in a statement. “With her strategic eye on Food Network and Allison’s on HGTV, we’ll ensure these iconic brands continue to delight our passionate fans and maximize their unique value to our advertising and affiliate partners.”
Both White and Page will report to Finch. In addition to HGTV, Page will work with Fixer Upper stars Joanna and Chip Gaines as they develop a new media property.
“I relish the opportunity to lead such an amazing group of innovative storytellers, inspiring people everywhere through the power and joy of food,” said White. “It is an exciting time to be in the food capital of the world, where the team is making food-centric entertainment more tantalizing and inspiring to our fans than ever before.”
White joined Scripps Networks in 2005, serving as senior vp programming at Travel Channel and vp program development and production for HGTV. She developed and launched some of HGTV’s signature shows, including Beachfront Bargain Hunt, Hawaii Life and Caribbean Life.
