Craig T. Nelson has found his next act.
The Parenthood grad has been tapped to co-star in ABC’s Greg Berlanti/Diablo Cody comedy Raised by Wolves, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The single-camera effort centers around Sheila Gable (Georgia King), a tough mother struggling to support her five opinionated, eccentric kids on a shoestring budget in a Midwestern town. It is based on the U.K. series created by Caitlin Moran and Caroline Moran for Big Talk Productions and Channel 4.
Nelson will play Paul “Grampy” Kosinski, Sheila’s cheerfully entitled baby boomer with limited resources who often takes advantage of her but also provides an odd comfort to the family.

For Nelson, the role marks his latest TV gig following NBC’s Jason Katims drama Parenthood. He was previously attached to reprise his Emmy-winning role as Hayden Fox in NBC’s Coach reboot, which ultimately was scrapped before its premiere. The actor’s credits include a voice role in the Incredibles franchise as well as The District and Poltergeist, among many others. Nelson is repped by Paradigm.
Cody (Juno, United States of Tara) penned the script for Raised by Wolves and will executive produce alongside Berlanti and his Berlanti Productions banner topper Sarah Schechter. Also on board as exec producers are Caitlin and Caroline Moran, Kenton Allen, Matthew Justice, Caroline Leddy and Ben Taylor, with the latter set to direct the pilot.
