Is Jon Stewart the king of late night … on cable, that is?
The Comedy Central host’s Daily Show was tops in the ratings for the month of February in all key categories, again topping all other late-night series including TBS’ Conan.
The Daily Show averaged 1.61 million total viewers, roughly half a million viewers ahead of its nearest competitor, The Colbert Report (1.12 million). (For the month of January, Stewart’s half-hour show drew 1.56 million.)
Conan was third, reaching about 1.02 million per episode, down from its previous average (1.12 million) for January. Chelsea Lately (926,000), The Mo’Nique Show (776,000) and Lopez Tonight (558,000) followed.
In the adult 18-49 demo, Stewart was No. 1 with a 0.84 rating (932,000) with Conan a distant second with a 0.65 (743,000), a 10 percent dip for the former Tonight Show host. (In January, Conan averaged a 0.72 in the key demo.)
Last month, Conan O’Brien‘s hourlong talker was victorious in the 18-34 category, but not so for February. The Daily Show topped all cable competitors with a 0.96 (544,000). Conan averaged a 0.87 (509,000), down 6 percent from the previous month.
