A week’s respite from the bedazzled guillotine could not postpone the inevitable forever. Dancing With the Stars made its first cut of Season 14 on Tuesday night.
The couples forced to sweat it out — Martina Navratilova and Tony Dovolani, Roshon Fegan and Chelsie Hightower, Gavin DeGraw and Karina Smirnoff — weren’t the most predictable bunch. Navratilova’s forgotten moves and low scores made her a sure bet, but Roshon and Gavin’s reasonably strong showings made their wait more surprising.

But the scores are hard to argue, and with only 37 points behind them, it was the end of the road for Martina and Tony.
After Monday’s performance, Navratilova told The Hollywood Reporter about how her rehearsals had actually gone much better than her performance.
“I just blew it,” she said. “I was so anxious about my first fast-kicks that I went into them too fast and then I got lost. I rehearsed well with all three dances. This week i felt much less nervous and ready to go.”
Visibly upset after Monday’s show, she was in much better spirit for her elimination. “I just wish that it had lasted longer,” she said. “I blew it yesterday and it cost me.”
One down, eleven to go..
