Devious Maids star Dania Ramirez is headlining the Canadian pay TV movie First Response from indie producer Incendo.
The thriller, directed by Philippe Gagnon and shooting in Montreal, sees Ramirez play a veteran paramedic who, along with her partner, is hijacked and forced to tend to a gunman’s life-threatening wound.
The Dominican Republic-born Ramirez garnered attention with earlier roles in Premium Rush, American Pie 4 and The Sopranos. First Response also stars the Canadian actor Kristopher Turner.
The pay TV movie for Canadian broadcaster Bell Media is produced by Jean Bureau and Ian Whitehead, with Bureau also executive producing. Incendo has also partnered with Canal Plus on the English-language historical drama Versailles, written by Simon Mirren and David Wolstencroft.
Through its joint venture with 20th Century Fox International Television, Incendo is also Canada’s largest TV distributor.
