Danielle Claman Gelber continues to ramp up development as part of her recently launched Acoustic Productions banner.
The former Chicago Fire executive producer has sold a drama script to NBC from writers Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder (Ringer), The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Titled Life After…, the character drama centers on six friends who, each winter, spring, summer and fall, bond and retreat together from their lives and careers, which are forever linked by a life-changing event from their past.
Charmelo and Snyder will write the pilot, and executive produce with Claman Gelber. Universal TV, where Claman Gelber, Charmelo and Snyder all have deals, will produce.
This is one of two projects Claman Gelber has in development at NBC, the other being the drama Long Distance from Bates Motel showrunner Kerry Ehrin and Bates Motel star Freddie Highmore.
Claman Gelber launched her own banner earlier this year, after which she re-upped an overall deal with Universal in July.
She was previously head of development at Dick Wolf’s Universal-based Wolf Films banner for five years, during which time she served as an executive producer on Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med. Before that, Claman Gelber served as senior vp original programming at Showtime Networks, where she was behind comedies The Big C, Episodes and Weeds, among others.
Claman Gelber‘s other stints include senior vp drama series programming at Fox, when she helped develop The X-Files, Party of Five, Melrose Place and Beverly Hills, 90210, and also director of television development for Aaron Spelling’s Spelling Television, where she helped manage series including Dynasty and The Love Boat.
Claman Gelber is repped by Jared Levine at Morris Yorn.
Charmelo and Snyder also co-wrote the horror-thriller film The Perfectionist with Richard Shepard that sold to Miramax last month. The writers, whose other credits include Supernatural, are repped by UTA, The Shuman Company and attorney Jamie Mandelbaum.
