Don’t Trust the B—- in Apt. 23 alum Krysten Ritter will star as the title character, who after a tragic ending to her short-lived superhero stint, is rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities in New York.
Tennant will play the villainous Kilgrave, an enigmatic figure from Jessica’s past whose reappearance will send shock waves through the former superhero’s world.
Twilight‘s Melissa Rosenberg will oversee the series.
In the Marvel Comics universe, Kilgrave (aka Purple Man) first appeared in Daredevil No. 4 in October 1964. He’s an international spy who, in the 2000s, emerged as an enemy to Jones and her husband, Luke Cage (who will be played by The Good Wife alum Mike Colter in the Netflix dramas).
For Tennant, the Jessica Jones role marks his stateside follow-up to Fox’s Gracepoint, a remake of British drama Broadchurch, which recently returned for a second season. He’s repped by Independent Talent Group and UTA.
