NBC has found its man-child.
David Walton, who this week completed an arc on Fox’s New Girl, has been tapped to star in NBC’s reboot of the 2002 Hugh Grant feature About a Boy, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Parenthood‘s Jason Katims will pen the pilot adaptation of Nick Hornby‘s novel and the film. The single-camera comedy follows the relationship between a bachelor man-child and the young boy who moves in next door with his crazy, single mother.

Katims will executive produce the Universal Television effort alongside Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Jane Rosenthal and Robert De Niro, with Jon Favreau on board to direct the pilot.
Walton returns to the network where he starred on its short-lived comedy Bent. His credits also include Perfect Couples and the feature Burlesque. He’s repped by Gersh.
