TOKYO – the filming of blockbuster drama series Strangers 6 – a joint Chinese-Japanese-Korean production – has begun in Japan with a reshuffled cast, following a three-month delay caused by the March earthquake and Tsunami.
Shooting had been due to begin in Japan in March.
The action follows six agents, two each from China, Japan and Korea, assigned with protecting the interests of a joint economic region.
Toshiaki Karasawa (48) takes the lead Japanese role, alongside Masaya Kikawada. The Korean team is led by Oh Ji Ho, supported by Kim Hyo Jin, replacing Han Chae Young, who had to pull out following the shooting delay to work on the Korean film Big Deal.
The budget for the 15 one-hour episode series is reported to be 1 billion yen ($12.4 million), with production being shared by Beijing Hualu Baina Film&Tv Co of China; Fuji TV, Wowow and Index of Japan; and BMC Investment, HnB Pictures and W Media Contents from Korea.
Filming for the series will take place in all three countries and it is already slated for broadcast in more than 10 Asian territories. It will be shown in Japan on Wowow this winter, followed by Fuji TV next summer.
