ABC Family has locked up two actors for its drama pilots.
Desperate Housewives alum Doug Savant has joined Recovery Road, while former Numb3rs star Diane Farr has been cast in Stitchers, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Both are recurring guest roles.
Based on Blake Nelson‘s YA novel, Recovery Road focuses on teenager Maddie Graham (Samantha Logan), who’s dealing with addiction.
Savant will play Alan, Maddie’s father and a charismatic politician. Not always the smartest person in the room, he believes that he is and he’s stubborn to a fault. Alan loves Maddie, but he’s at a loss in terms of how to deal with her now that he can no longer pretend she’s his “perfect” little girl.
Paranormal drama Stitchers centers on a young woman recruited into a covert government agency to be “stitched” into the minds of the recently deceased, using their memories to investigate murders and decipher mysteries that otherwise would have gone to the grave.
Farr will portray the brilliant and intrepid Maggie, the head of a secret program at a federal agency that investigates serious crimes. Maggie is the mother of Cameron (Kyle Harris), the head tech/handler in the program, and who recruits Kirsten (Emma Ishta) to be an operative.
Farr is repped by UTA and Silver Lining Entertainment. Savant is repped by Paradigm and Liberman-Zerman Management.
