Discovery Channel has upped Denise Contis to evp of production and development, west coast. The programming exec, with the company since 2008 and originally at TLC, fills the shoes of exiting Nancy Daniels.
“Denise is a perfect fit for this position,” said Discovery and TLC Networks group president Eileen O’Neill. “Having worked on both Discovery and TLC, she’s a television executive who gets what both men and women of all ages want to see. Her track record of bringing quality programming to the Discovery family speaks for itself. I’ve worked with Denise for over six years now and I’m thrilled to grow this relationship and keep it going strong.”
Contis will remain based in Los Angeles, reporting directly to O’Neill. She takes over the position effective Sept. 9 after Daniels begins her new job as general manager of TLC.
Originally vp of west coast production and development at TLC, where she served as ep on Sarah Palin’s Alaska, Contis has most recently served as Discovery’s senior vp of west coast production and development. Earlier this year, she oversaw ratings hit Skywire Live With Nik Wallenda.
