British brand Mulberry, which does charming handbags (some designed by Cara Delevingne) and coats favored by royalty, is in town to sponsor the BAFTA tea on Saturday, as it always does, and took the Chateau Marmont’s biggest bungalow to show its spring collection of silk prints, laser cut leather dresses and printed blazers to L.A. editors and, of course, actresses.
On Friday night, Mulberry took full advantage of their location by holding an “Out of Towners” party at the pool outside the iconic Sunset Boulevard hotel’s bungalow one with a star-studded crowd that included the evening’s co-host, Brit producer Charles Finch (of Chanel Oscars dinner fame), Wes Anderson, Adrien Brody, Dominic West, Brett Ratner and Jared Harris, who were all on hand freezing near the heaters. But it was the ladies that everyone had their eyes on: Rosamund Pike was noticeably not wearing Mulberry (in a black sleeveless Edun dress instead), but Downton Abbey stars Joanne Froggatt (aka Anna) and Laura Carmichael (Lady Edith) were wearing looks from the new spring collection and everyone was buzzing about how gorgeous Carmichael looked, as Lady Edith is always so dowdy and unglam . She had a little help, with makeup done by Charlotte Tilbury, who attended with her. The transformation was amazing.
