The second episode of the sixth and final season of hit drama Downton Abbey drew an average audience of 7.5 million for U.K. broadcaster ITV on Sunday night, compared with the 7.6 million recorded in overnight data a week earlier and down from 8.1 million for the second episode of season five.
The second episode attracted a 33.3 percent share of people watching TV at the time in Britain. Together with the 7.2 million average viewers for The X Factor, for a share of 33 percent, ITV dominated Sunday primetime in the U.K.
The first episode of the final Downton run last week drew the lowest-ever season debut for the hit drama in overnight data. The audience figures are expected to get a boost by on-demand viewing when seven-day audience figures are reported.?
The drama, created by Julian Fellowes, airs on Sunday night in the 9 p.m. slot on ITV. In the U.S., the drama, produced by NBCUniversal’s Carnival Films, has been airing on PBS since 2011.
