Dr. Phil McGraw is staying put at CBS.
The host and executive producer of daytime’s No. 1 rated talk show has inked a new deal with CBS TV Distribution to continue his eponymous series through 2023. The multiyear pact will take the show, now in its 17th season, through season 21.
The news comes as McGraw’s power at the recently rocked company arguably has never been greater. In addition to his own highly rated series — increasingly an anomaly in a challenged landscape — he is an executive producer on the daytime talk show The Doctors, now in its 11th season, and the daily syndicated newsmagazine DailyMailTV.
McGraw is also a co-creator of the CBS drama series Bull, which was inspired by his early career as head of the nation’s most sophisticated trial science firm. Via his Stage 29 Productions, he has a development deal at CBS TV Studios, too, with several other projects in the works.
