Drop Dead Diva has announced a new addition.
Lifetime revealed via social media that heartthrob Justin Deeley has been cast in the series regular role of a new guardian angel, Paul, on the fifth season of the revived drama, which has begun production in Atlanta.

“Thank you fans! We met the goal in record time! Meet southern heartthrob Justin Deeley, Jane’s new guardian angel! Trust us, you’re going to LOVE him this season. What do you think??” read the Facebook announcement that posted shortly after 3 p.m. PT Wednesday. Fans of the show unlocked Deeley’s image in just three minutes to reveal the news.
Described as gorgeous with a great body and an adorable personality, Paul is a likable free spirit in the truest sense of the word. His body comes straight out of an Abercrombie & Fitch ad, and he has the carefree attitude of a Zen surfer. Funny, sweet and surprised by others’ obsessions with his looks, he’s blissfully unaware that he’s not the sharpest knife in the shed.
Drop Dead Diva centers on aspiring model Deborah “Deb” Dobkins, who was killed in a car crash and is brought back to life as lawyer Jane Bingum (Brooke Elliot). The season-four finale, which attracted a season-high 2.76 million viewers in September, ended on a cliffhanger, with Jane’s new husband Owen (Lex Medlin) dying and coming back to life with old Jane’s soul.

Lifetime had canceled Diva in January before resurrecting the series in March.
Carter MacIntyre took over as Jane’s guardian angel in the fourth season as a series regular, taking the reins from Ben Feldman, who played Fred. MacIntyre will appear in the fifth season in at least one episode.
Deeley, repped by Arlook Group, has credits that include a recurring stint on 90210 and a role in the 2009 film Couples Retreat.
