Breaking Bad has done it again — nabbing a second consecutive Outstanding Drama Series win.
The award capped off a huge night for the AMC/Sony Pictures Television drama’s final shot at Emmys glory.
“Thank you so much for this wonderful goodbye to our show,” said creator Vince Gilligan. “This is indeed a wonderful time to be working in television. I want to thank AMC and Sony and the best damn crew in Albuquerque, New Mexico.”
In addition to its series win, Bryan Cranston took home his fourth lead actor award for his portrayal of chemistry teacher-turn-meth kingpin Walter White, Aaron Paul took home a third best supporting actor award for playing Jesse Pinkman and Anna Gunn won a second consecutive supporting actress statuette for playing Skyler White.
In all, the series took six awards, trialing only The BBC’s Sherlock‘s six.
Moira Walley-Beckett took home a writing award for penning “Ozymandias” (beating Gilligan in the same category). Skip MacDonald also took home an editing award at last week’s Creative Arts Emmys.
The series went out to critical praise and ratings highs last September. A spinoff, Better Caul Saul, is currently in production for a February 2015 bow on AMC. The series, which reunites Bob Odenkirk as Saul with Bad alum Jonathan Banks as Mike Ehrmantraut, is co-created by Gilligan and Bad producer Peter Gould.
