There’s more than one way to bare skin on an important red carpet — little sneak peeks can sometimes be more attention-grabbing than that old cliche of megawatt Hollywood cleavage (think Sofia Vergara‘s or Sarah Silverman‘s Emmys looks).
Lizzy Caplan‘s Donna Karan Atelier black gown with side cutouts nearly stopped the carpet. We’re used to watching the Masters of Sex star all covered up in her ’50s prim styles, so seeing the sides of her ribs — well, she proves she can be a master, or mistress, of sex off and on the small screen.
Kerry Washington‘s orange Prada gown was simple in shape, but the strapless cut and thigh-high long slit in the front with a peekaboo black piece underneath showed off her shoulders and legs to perfection.
Gwen Stefani‘s sparkly Versace number featured a space-age-like V-neckline with modern metal strips partially covering her chest. If that’s how the future looks like when it comes to revealing skin, we’ll take it.
Sarah Hyland‘s two-piece outfit — white crop top and orange ballgown skirt by Christian Siriano — also showed a little skin at the waist, a trend that’s been poppin’ all summer (see here and here), but has rarely hit a major awards show before.
