Veronica Lake and her waves took the back burner (for once) at an awards show; in their place, makeup looks inspired by Audrey Hepburn made the scene.
For nominees Michelle Dockery and Lena Headey, their makeup artists eschewed colorful eye shadows, opting for a defined eye line and soft pink lips, in the vein of Hepburn from decades past. “The ’60s were our inspiration first, then the elegance of Audrey Hepburn and how she could wear and pull off that eye,” says Jordan Bree Long of Dockery’s look. Long skipped Hepburn’s signature bold brow, which would have been too heavy on Dockery’s delicate face, and focused on the eyes. She used Giorgio Armani Eye & Brow Maestro in 01 Black as a liner with a subtle flick at the end, and topped it with light gray shadow and several coats of Lancome Grandiose Mascara.
Lisa Storey also focused on the lash line and heavy mascara for her Hepburn interpretation on Headey, which was inspired by the Game of Thrones star’s new pixie cut. Storey brushed nude shadow on the lids, lined the eyes with L’Oreal Paris Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner and filled in the brows “very naturally, without looking too overly styled.” The finishing touch was L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Balm Pop in Electric Pink, a sheer rose shade, and an appropriate way to channel the woman known for saying, “I believe in pink.”
