PHOTOS: Best and Worst Moments From the Emmys
The singer’s performance of The Beatles’ “Yesterday” during Sunday’s Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony generated 17,090 tweets per minute during the show, according to data released by Twitter. Underwood paid tribute to the group 50 years after their legendary performance on The Ed Sullivan Show.
Coming in as the No. 2 most tweeted moment was another musical moment: Elton John’s tribute to Liberace, subject of the Emmy-winning HBO movie Behind the Candelabra. John’s performance of “Home Again,” which he said reminded him of the late entertainer, generated 13,720 tweets per minute.

Rounding out the top five were the presentations of three awards: The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons’ win for best comedy actor in a comedy series (12,420 tweets per minute), Breaking Bad’s win as best drama (12,090 tweets per minute) and The Newsroom star Jeff Daniels’ win for best actor in a drama (11,240 tweets per minute).
Meanwhile, the most-discussed shows on Twitter overall were Breaking Bad; Homeland, whose star Claire Danes was named best actress in a drama; 30 Rock, which won comedy writing honors for Tina Fey and Tracey Wigfield; and Boardwalk Empire, whose Bobby Cannavale was named best supporting actor in a drama.
