During the Emmy run-up, even the most jaded eyes were all on party-hopper Mick Jagger, who’s about to jump into television, producing a ’70s music series for HBO starring Emmy winner Bobby Cannavale.
It all started at the CAA pre-Emmy party Sept. 20 at Bouchon in Beverly Hills. Jagger, who often heads to Bouchon when he’s in town, avoided the check-in line by popping into a side entrance and sat with pals Lorne Michaels and Jimmy Fallon. Many in the crowd — which included Seth MacFarlane, Jennifer Lopez and Robin Wright — couldn’t stop staring, says one guest.
The next night, Jagger, 70, attended Jimmy Iovine‘s at-home pre-Emmy party, where the singer met Oprah Winfrey for the first time, then danced with Gayle King. After 1 a.m., he made a surprise entrance at promoter Bryan Rabin‘s club Giorgio’s at the Standard Hotel Hollywood.
“My doorman sent me a note: ‘This is not a joke. This is a 9-1-1. Mick Jagger is coming through the door right now,’ ” Rabin tells THR. Jagger hit the dance floor for about a half-hour. Finally, he showed up at HBO’s post-Emmy party. Some of the cast of Game of Thrones even were following him around.
