Riding the worldwide popularity of K-content, Endeavor Content has struck a multi-year deal with Korean TV producer Bon Factory to develop English- and Korean-language series for the world market.
“South Korean culture has impacted the world globally, and Bon Factory’s storytelling style and ability to weave local and global approaches to content make this the perfect partnership,” Kelly Miller, vp of international strategy at Endeavor Content, said in a statement.
Bon Factory, led by Ken Oh, is a leading producer of popular Korean series like You Are Beautiful, Master’s Sun, She Was Beautiful, What Happened to Ms. Kim, the Secretary and Encounter. Besides Korean dramas dominating the Asian TV market, Korea’s shiny floor competition show The Masked Singer sparking a successful U.S. adaptation on Fox and other international versions of the show has cemented Korea’s reputation for creating premium TV shows.
“We are thrilled to partner with Endeavor Content to bring Korea’s top-notch creative talents and IPs to the global audience. As the increasing fandom of Korean content has extended its boundaries beyond Asian market with a growing desire to connect with its creative talents, the time is ripe for Bon Factory and Endeavor Content to work together to develop alliance,” Bon Factory co-CEO Oh said in his own statement.
The partnership to develop original series with high profile and emerging global and Korean talent and adaptations of English language formats in Korea and Korean-language formats for international broadcasters follows Endeavor striking a similar partnership with Mexico’s Exile Content Studio for the Latin American market.
The multi-year deal also follows Bon Factory being acquired by CJ ENM, a leading Asian entertainment and media company.
