Gloria Killian‘s story putting herself through law school while in prison and fighting a wrongful conviction for murder is coming to TV.
Independent studio Entertainment One has teamed with Killian and co-author Sandra Kobrin to adapt their book, Full Circle: A True Story of Murder, Lies and Vindication, as a drama series called Inside-Out, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Inside-Out tells the story of a wrongfully convicted woman who puts herself through law school while she is in prison, gains her acquittal and dedicates her life to helping those who have also been thrown under the bus of the legal system. The series, which does not yet have a network attached, chronicles her struggle to discover who set her up for her husband’s murder as well as her path to redemption, adjustment and reconnection with an alcoholic mother and a young daughter who has disappeared into the foster care system. Inside-Out follows a woman who has so much taken away from her and her journey to get everything she lost returned.
Kobrin will pen the script, with Die Hard: With a Vengeance‘s Robert Lawrence on board to executive produce through his Robert Lawrence Productions banner. Jon Amiel (Creation, Once Upon a Time, Lifetime’s Deliverance Creek) will direct the pilot and exec produce alongside eOne’s John Morayniss and Michael Rosenberg (Klondike).
“What is both singular and inspiring about Inside-Out is that our heroine’s unique journey of struggle and reclamation becomes a powerful metaphor for anyone who has faced terrible loss in their lives,” Lawrence tells THR. “Yet she has found a way to transform not only herself but others who have suffered a similar fate. In seeking her own justice, she has subscribed to the higher and quintessential American ideal of justice for all.”
Published in 2012 by New Horizon Press, Full Circle earned the USA Best Book Award for True Crime. Killian’s story also will be featured Sunday on CNN’s docuseries Death Row Stories.
For her part, Kobrin is a writer and journalist and screenwriter who was recently shortlisted for The Best American Essays of 2013. She’s repped by Gersh, Echo Lake and attorney Mark Temple. Amiel is with Resolution, and Lawrence is repped by Bloom Hergott. For its part, Echo Lake also managed Amiel and packaged the project.
Worldwide distribution for the series will be handled by eOne. The studio develops, produces, acquires and distributes programming, including AMC’s Turn, Hell on Wheels, Halt & Catch Fire, Sundance’s The Red Road, DirecTV’s Rogue and countless others.
