Eriq La Salle is suiting up for CBS’ Widow Detective.
The former ER star has been tapped to guest star and possibly recur in the drama pilot from CSI mastermind Carol Mendelsohn, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.
The pilot revolves around Denny, a decorated police officer (John Corbett) who becomes a surrogate husband, lover and father to families of three partners lost in the line of duty. La Salle will play Lt. Lutrell, a loyal friend who came up through the ranks with Denny.
David Hubbard (Noel) is attached to write and executive produce the CBS TV Studios drama, with Julie Weitz, head of development at Mendelsohn’s production company, on board to executive produce.
La Salle’s casting brings him back to CBS, where he previously had a multiepisode arc on the network’s freshman Patrick Wilson drama earlier this season and reteams him with ER director Davis Guggenheim, who is on board to helm the pilot. Should Detective be ordered to series, La Salle would likely direct an episode of the drama.
Elyes Gabel, Conor Leslie and Natalie Martienz co-star, with Michael Irby slated to guest in the pilot.
La Salle is repped by Principato-Young Entertainment and Felker Toczek.
He joins fellow ER co-star Anthony Edwards (ABC’s Zero Hour) with pilot gigs this casting season.
