Getty ImagesFormer CBS News anchor Erica Hill joins NBC News as national correspondent and Weekend Today co-anchor. The announcement came Thursday from NBC News president Steve Capus. Hill joins Lester Holt, Jenna Wolfe and Dylan Dreyer on the weekend edition of NBC’s morning program beginning Saturday.
Hill will co-anchor the Saturday and Sunday editions of Today and contribute to other NBC News programs and platforms including Nightly News, Today and MSNBC.

“Erica’s extraordinary track record as a journalist has proved that she can cover everything from hard news to pop culture with ease and professionalism,” said Capus in a statement. “She’s a fantastic addition to ‘Weekend Today,’ and I’m delighted to welcome her to NBC News.”
Added Weekend Today executive producer Dee Dee Thomas: “I couldn’t be happier to have such a strong team in place with Lester, Erica, Jenna and Dylan. We just celebrated 25 years of weekends here at Today, and this is the perfect ensemble to lead us toward our next milestone.”

Last summer, Hill was moved out of her co-anchor chair on CBS This Morning in favor of Norah O’Donnell. Hill was not seen on the network since CBS News made the surprise announcement in July. At the time, CBS News executives said their desire was to keep Hill at the news organization, but with few opportunities for a regular anchor role, that seemed unlikely at the time.
Hill was the only holdover from the Early Show, CBS News’ previous morning program, which was scrapped in January in favor of the current program co-hosted by Charlie Rose and Gayle King that jettisoned some of the fluffier staples of morning TV.
She joined CBS News in 2008 and continued to work at CNN, where she served as an anchor and correspondent on Anderson Cooper 360, until 2010.
