Jukin Media and Dick Clark Productions have given the green light to a second season of the international TV version of Fail Army, a fast-paced blooper-filled clip show drawn from videos around the globe.
Twenty more episodes of Fail Army will be produced for distribution in on TV2 Norway, Spike UK, Rogers Media in Canada, TV3 New Zealand, Foxtel Australia, Sky Italia and elsewhere.
“The buyers’ appetite for the series was evident from the moment we had episodes available for screening,” said Dick Clark Productions International executive vp Mark Rafalowski.
“This is by far and away the best reception I have ever had for a new clip show in my 20-year career,” said DCPI senior vp sales and acquisitions Bob Kennedy. “It is one watercooler moment after another.”
Jukin Media initially launched Fail Army on YouTube where it reportedly now has more than 5 million subscribers. It is a next-generation clip show in the vein of Candid Camera and America’s Funniest Home Videos, compiling outrageous, often stupid videos showing accidents and self-inflicted injuries one after another — about 60 per half hour.
There is no host but there is a voiceover to introduce the next video.
It has also spawned a spinoff show on Fox called World’s Funniest Fails, hosted by Terry Crews, from the same producer and distributor.
Dick Clark Productions and The Hollywood Reporter are both owned by affiliates of Guggenheim Partners.
