Goodbye, Skye and hello, Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet).
When Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD returns Sept. 29 for its third season, the hacker-turned-SHIELD agent will take on yet another persona, but this time it hits a little closer to home. Skye will officially be called by her newly discovered birth name Daisy Johnson — aka the Inhuman known as “Quake” in the comics — and she’ll have an edgy, badass superhero suit to go along with her new, powerful identity.
Not only will Daisy debut a mission-ready uniform, but she also chopped off her long hair, paying homage to the close-cropped look Daisy wears in the comics. The new name, suit and hairstyle completes her total character makeover going into season three.

But she’s not the only one who’s going to look different when the fall TV season begins. Here are 11 other drastic character makeovers on TV, from the iconic to the ones that are about to debut.
Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) on Arrow
The Arrow is dead, and the Green Arrow is born. When Oliver returns to the newly named Star City after an extended romantic vacation with Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards), the vigilante is going to be donning a new, sleeveless costume to go along with his new name. Amell debuted the new suit himself during the big DC Comics TV panel at Comic-Con. Romance clearly looks good on this hero.
Diggle (David Ramsey) on Arrow
Oliver’s not the only one with a brand new look this season. The military man is finally getting a superhero costume of his own — complete with a Magneto-inspired helmet — when he takes over the leadership of Team Arrow in Oliver’s absence.
Felicity (Keri Russell) on Felicity
It was the haircut heard ’round the world, and the massive ratings avalanche for the second season of The WB’s drama can be blamed mostly on Felicity’s new pixie ‘do. When she chopped off her signature curls, viewers were so offended that it became what the show is most remembered for now (along with the central love triangle). This was widely regarded as the haircut that almost ruined a fan-favorite show.
Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) on Once Upon a Time
When ABC’s fairy tale drama returns for season five, the former savior is turning to the dark side to become the Dark Swan. But her look is actually a lot lighter than normal, as her hair is bleached blonde along with her eyebrows to match. And while Rumpelstiltskin’s skin had a gold sheen to it when he was the Dark One, the Dark Swan’s is silver. And her look wouldn’t be complete without an all-black leather outfit and sky-high stilettos.
Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) on Glee
When she moved to NYC to start college, Rachel tossed her childish reindeer sweaters for a more mature look of tailored skirts and heels, one that was closer to Michele’s off-screen style.
Penny (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting) on The Big Bang Theory
After Cuoco-Sweeting cut off her long hair over the summer hiatus, Big Bang writers decided to write the haircut into the show rather than risk having her wear questionable wigs. “We’d made jokes for years, like, ‘I’m going to cut my hair, I’m going to do it,’ ” Cuoco-Sweeting said at the time. “I talked to the producers and they were like, ‘Well, how short?’ It was for a movie over the summer, and the writers loved it and they were great about it. They wrote it in and I got lucky.” And so, known for her long, blonde hair, Penny chopped it all off when she gave up on acting to begin a more serious career, and it’s been short ever since.
Chuck Bartowski (Zach Levi) on Chuck
When Chuck became an actual CIA agent in season three of the cult-favorite NBC spy comedy, his promotion came with a streamlined look. Gone were his unruly, curly locks and instead he had a close-cropped haircut more suitable for a spy. Of course, he still wore his Chuck Taylors everywhere, even on missions. You can take the man out of the Buy More but you can’t take the Buy More out of the man.
Wesley Wyndam-Pryce (Alexis Denisof) on Angel
Not only did the uptight Watcher lose his suit-and-tie look that he was known for on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but he loosened up mentally as well over time, becoming the dark hero everyone needed, even though it was a thankless job. This was a complete 180-degree turn from the comedic character he used to be, and arguably one of the many fun character development arcs on the Joss Whedon series.
Caroline Forbes (Candice King) on The Vampire Diaries
Again, not only did this character change her physical style from high school cheerleader to mature young woman, but her personality completely changed as well … for the better. She’s now the most fierce, independent and confident character on the show, and poised to help take over in the wake of lead Nina Dobrev’s departure.
Clark Kent (Tom Welling) on Smallville
When Clark finally accepted that he had to live a double life in order to protect his secret identity as the “Red-Blue Blur,” he took up a job at the Daily Planet and dressed the part. Gone were his flannel shirts and jeans, and instead he wore a much more sophisticated, tailored suit and tie … along with the iconic glasses that somehow fooled the world into thinking Clark Kent and Superman were two different people.
Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) on Game of Thrones
When the pint-sized Stark joined the House of Black and White last season on HBO’s Emmy-winning fantasy series, she shed her boyish disguise (including her go-to weapon Needle) to become a terrifying assassin, training under Jaqen H’ghar. How going blind will affect her deadly new career remains to be seen.
