Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and other stars teamed up to film a special message for the Today show in honor of International Day of the Girl, which is Oct. 11.
“Right now, more than 98 million adolescent girls around the world are not in school,” began Roberts in the video, which debuted on Thursday.
“That’s a lot of empty desks,” said Hathaway. Natalie Portman continued, “That’s a lot of dreams that are being cut short.”
“Every single one of us has the power to support these girls,” added David Beckham.
“‘Cause when you let girls go to school, when you give them the opportunity,” Streep said before Amy Poehler continued, “amazing things start to happen.”
Yara Shahidi was the next star to be featured in the clip. “Poverty goes down. Economies grow,” she said. Jessica Alba then added, “Families get stronger, and babies are born healthier.”
“I hope you’ll join me because the future of our world,” began John Legend before Hathaway continued, “is only as bright as our girls.”
Alba concluded the video by encouraging viewers to support global girls education, which they can learn more about on the Today show’s website.
