TORONTO – NBC’S The Firm got off to a soft start Sunday night on Global Television north of the border, pulling in 1.1 million total viewers for the two-hour debut.
The legal thriller managed to beat a new episode of CTV’s Desperate Housewives at 9pm and Pan Am at 10 p.m. because the two competing shows aired out of simulcast.
The Firm, a TV adaptation of the John Grisham novel and Paramount movie from Canadian indie Entertainment One, will now move to the competitive 10 p.m. slot on Thursday nights.
Global Television made a better impression with the debut of another Canadian drama, Bomb Girls, which pulled in 1.4 million total viewers last Wednesday night, according to BBM Canada data.
Bomb Girls, from Muse Entertainment and Back Alley Films, portrays five women working in a Canadian munitions factory during the Second World War.
The Firm also had a flat debut on NBC, where the two-hour premiere averaged a 1.4 share among adults 18-49 during its 9:00-11:00 p.m. broadcast.
