The Flash has recruited another speedster.
Insurgent star Keiynan Lonsdale has joined The Flash as a series regular, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. He’ll play iconic DC character Wally West, who in the comics became known as Kid Flash, before eventually donning The Flash identity.
“Just like when we met Grant [Gustin] for the first time, we instantly knew Keiynan embodied all the heart and courage of a hero,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said in a statement. “We are so excited to be bringing this much-beloved character onto the show.”

The Flash producers have long teased The Flash would introduce additional speedsters to work alongside Barry Allen (Gustin) in season two. Lonsdale joins fellow new addition Teddy Sears as Jay Garrick, who in comic book lore was the original fastest man alive. In the show, he will arrive in Central City to warn Barry and his STAR Labs friends of an impending danger that he needs help to stop.
Earlier this week, the CW cast hero Hawkman (Falk Hentschel) and villain Vandal Savage (Casper Crump), both of whom will first appear on crossover episodes of Arrow/The Flash before heading to 2016 spinoff Legends of Tomorrow.
Lonsdale is represented by Silver Lining Entertainment, ICM, Schreck Rose Dapello & Adams, and Persona PR.
Season two of The Flash premieres Oct. 6 on The CW.
