The Fosters has enlisted a High School Musical alum for its upcoming musical-within-the-show.
Corbin Bleu is set to guest-star on a March episode of the ABC Family (soon to be Freeform) drama, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Bleu will play Mercutio, who appears in Brandon (David Lambert)’s Romeo and Juliet musical, which serves as his senior project. Alongside Bleu will be Garrett Clayton (King Cobra), who will reprise his role as Chase Dillon, who also gets a role in the production. Adding to the drama will be Brandon’s ex-girlfriend and ex-bandmate Lou Chan, played by returning recurring actress Ashley Argota (Lab Rats).
Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) also appears in the musical.
The musical episode will air in March and be directed by series co-creator and executive producer Bradley Bredeweg, who produced the recent Hollywood production of Romeo & Juliet: Love Is a Battlefield that starred Bleu and Argota.
Bleu’s role also reunites him with his father, David Reivers, who appears on the current season of The Fosters as Brandon’s boss.
Bleu, whose other credits include One Life to Live and Drop Dead Diva, is repped by Innovative Artists, Randy James Management, Principato-Young Entertainment and Felker Toczek.
New episodes of The Fosters kick off Monday, Jan. 25 at 8 p.m. on Freeform.
