2 Dope Queens breakout Jessica Williams will topline the romantic comedy from executive producer Mindy Kaling. Nikesh Patel (Indian Summers), Rebecca Rittenhouse (Into the Dark: The Body) and John Reynolds (Search Party) round out the cast.
The series revolves around Jess (Williams), the young communications director for a New York senatorial campaign, who receives a wedding invitation from her college schoolmate now living in London. She leaves her professional and personal life behind in favor of traveling to England and reconnecting with old friends, and ends up in the midst of their personal crises. Relationships are forged and broken, political scandals exposed, London social life lampooned, love affairs ignited and doused and, of course, there are four weddings … and a funeral.
Rittenhouse will take on the role of Ainsley, a former Dallas socialite who moved to London and became a successful interior designer. Jess is her estranged college friend whom she invites to be her maid of honor. Patel will play Kash, a struggling actor in London who is engaged to Ainsley. Reynolds rounds out the central cast as Duffy, an American teaching 8-year-olds at a British boarding school who still has a crush on Jess, his former classmate who suddenly appears in London.
Kaling and Matt Warburton penned the script. The duo will executive produce alongside Tracey Wigfield, Jonathan Prince, 3 Arts Entertainment’s Howard Klein, Charlie Grandy, Tristram Shapeero and Charles McDougall. The series hails from MGM Television and Universal Television.
Four Weddings and a Funeral is set to debut in 2019 on Hulu.
Williams is repped by UTA, B Company and Morris Yorn; Patel is with Independent Talent Group and Wishlab; Rittenhouse is repped by Gersh and Management 360; and Reynolds is with UTA and MGMT Entertainment.
