The studio behind Emmy darling Homeland has tapped Rachel Eggebeen as vp development and production, Fox 21 president Bert Salke announced Monday.
Eggebeen joins the company after serving as a development and production executive with Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers‘ Shondaland banner, where she worked on ABC’s breakout hit Scandal.
At Fox 21, Eggebeen will work with writers on the studio’s roster to develop new comedy and dramas for all cable networks as well as identifying fresh talent and ideas for new series. She’ll work closely with the agent community and network executives to shepherd projects from inception to series order as well as assist with the oversight of the company’s current series.
“Rachel is someone we specifically targeted as being one of the best development people in town, and we aggressively pursued her,” Salke said. “We couldn’t be happier she’s joining Fox 21. She has incredible taste in both writers and material and has phenomenal relationships. People in town adore her. Fox 21 is growing exponentially and bringing Rachel on board at this moment in the company’s expansion is absolutely key as we ramp up both our current series production and development in all areas.”
Before joining Shondaland, the Duke grad and Tulsa native developed feature films at Paramount Vantage, the specialty film unit of Paramount Pictures responsible for titles including There Will Be Blood, No Country for Old Men and Into the Wild. She got her start as an assistant to Michael Mann and as a development executive for Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney‘s Section Eight (Syriana, Michael Clayton).
Eggebeen joins Fox 21 as the company continues to see its fortunes rise. Showtime’s Homeland won the cabler’s first best drama Emmy last year. The company also produces FX’s ratings juggernaut Sons of Anarchy and has TNT’s Howard Gordon drama Legends on deck in addition to developing Tyrant, from Gordon and the producers of Homeland.
