Sarah Geismer is the latest Fox 21 TV Studios exec to make the leap to 20th Century Fox Television.
In her new role, the once cable-focused development exec will segue into comedy development at the company’s bigger, broadcast-focused studio. She’ll begin in her new position Monday, and will report to the studio’s newly named comedy chief Cheryl Dolins.
“Sarah is a fantastic executive who is beloved both within the company and the community, so we couldn’t be happier to have her join our team at 20th,” executive vp development Michael Thorn said Wednesday in a statement, adding, “She’s a smart, talented developer with great taste and creative judgment, and the perfect addition to our already formidable ranks. We owe Bert Salke a significant debt of gratitude for blessing the transition. He’s been incredibly generous.”
Geismer has spent the past seven years at the company’s cable studio, and her move across the aisle follows that of 20th TV’s newly named drama chief Brandon Brito.
She began as an assistant at Fox TV Studios under David Madden and remained with the company when it merged with Fox 21. During her time there, Geismer has overseen a mix of comedy and drama, including IFC’s Maron, FX’s The Comedians and USA’s Burn Notice as well as Showtime’s forthcoming untitled Lena Waithe project and Fox’s Rocky Horror Picture Show.
The Brown grad began her career as an associate producer for the MTV docuseries True Life.
