Fox Broadcasting is aligning its digital and social efforts and filling out the department’s executive ranks in the process. The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the network has hired veteran journalist Maggie Furlong as its new vp digital and social content.
The new position finds Furlong serving as editor-in-chief for all digital content created for and around Fox’s roster of original scripted and unscripted series. She’ll also manage network’s social media, content and digital brand management teams in a bid to create more cohesion and alignment across the digital properties. Furlong, who starts Nov. 10, will be the latest addition to the growing team lead by Fox Broadcasting president of digital David Wertheimer.
A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Furlong most recently served as TV editor at Yahoo TV. She was responsible for establishing a distinct editorial voice for the evolving web portal’s original entertainment news content, managing the social accounts and acting as Yahoo’s resident TV expert for print and on-camera appearances.
She previously served as West Coast editor for Huffington Post TV (formerly AOL Television) and national entertainment producer for Tribune Company. Her work has also been featured on CNN, HLN, Good Morning America, Fox News and the Los Angeles Times — to name a few.
Furlong — alongside her husband, screenwriter Tripper Clancy — also curates a popular Instagram account about their 2-year-old daughter and Boston terrier.
