FremantleMedia North America has tapped a new alternative vp.
BBC Entertainment’s Sean Hancock will now oversee development and production of reality competition, game show and other unscripted TV programming, FMNA announced Tuesday.
Hancock spent three and a half years as commissioning editor at BBC Entertainment, where he greenlit and executive produced a slate of programming including 2013 BAFTA best comedy The Revolution Will Be Televised, Russell Howard’s Good News and The Michael McIntyre Chat Show, among others.
“FremantleMedia is one of the leaders in alternative programming, and Sean’s keen eye for concepts that resonate with audiences along with his diverse experience in developing and producing reality, game shows amongst other programming, will make him a brilliant addition to our team,” said FMNA CEO Thom Beers.
“I’ve loved and valued my time at the BBC but couldn’t turn down this exciting opportunity to work in the American television market,” said Hancock. “I’m looking forward to joining FremantleMedia North America and working with the alternative team to create new, vibrant and innovative programming.”
Hancock — who as a freelancer worked on Celebrity Big Brother, The Farm, Shipwrecked, Take Me Out, among others — will report to new exec vp alternative programming Toby Gorman.
