Every tenth counts.
For Fringe, that statement rings true and Friday’s winter finale did just that. The Fox drama improved in total viewers and the adults 18-49 demographic from the last original to average 3.1 million and a 1.2 rating. The cult favorite leaves the smalls screen for a four-week break before returning with eight back-to-back originals beginning in March.
Fox tied with NBC for third place on the night with a 1.3 primetime average, thanks to Kitchen Nightmares (3.5 million, 1.5) also jumping in the ratings.
ABC’s Shark Tank (5.9 million, 1.8) matched a series high in the key demo at 8 p.m., improving on the network’s 18-49 average by 80 percent last year. Shark Tank proved to be a solid lead-in to newsmagazines What Would You Do? (4.6 million, 1.4) and 20/20 (4.7 million, 1.2). The network placed second with a 1.5 demo average, behind first-place CBS.
CBS’ Undercover Boss (8.6 million, 1.9) placed No. 1 in vieweership and the 18-49, a drastic improvement in the latter category compared to previous time slot occupant A Gifted Man (9.1 million, 1.3). The Patrick Wilson-led medical drama, which had rose last week after moving to its new time period, dropped down two-tenths in the demo this week. Blue Bloods (11.2 million, 1.7) improved in all key categories compared to last week.
NBC’s Who Do You Think You Are? (5 million, 1.0) placed fourth in the 8 p.m. hour, while 9 p.m. drama Grimm (4.8 million, 1.5) won its time slot. Dateline (5 million, 1.3) topped 20/20 at 10 p.m.
The CW aired repeats.
