FX has continued its string of blockbuster movie pickups, acquiring premiere rights to Green Lantern and Mr. Popper’s Penguins.
The male-skewing network said Tuesday that it has picked up the Ryan Reynolds-Blake Lively starrer directed by Martin Campbell and the Jim Carrey family comedy.
Green Lantern, a Warner Bros. Pictures adaptation of the DC Comics series, topped the domestic box office this past weekend with a $53.2 million take. Penguins, from Fox, finished the weekend at No. 3, with an $18.4 million haul.
Green Lantern joins previous FX pickups X-Men: First Class and J.J. Abrams-Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi feature Super 8 as well as several marquee titles including Disney’s Tron: Legacy, Sony’s The Green Hornet and Paramount’s animated Rango. The network also picked up The Hangover Part II.
