Rescue Me producers Denis Leary and Jim Serpico are back in business at FX.
The male-skewing cable network has ordered a comedy pilot from the duo: , Bronx Warrants, created by Arrested Development‘s Dean Lorey, revolves around a group of errant warrant detectives in the Bronx who are tasked with arresting individuals with outstanding warrants. Since bonuses are paid for each “body” they bring in, the detectives are out to get rich rather than seek justice.
The effort is based on the exploits of David Joglar and Richard Wetzel, who will co-produce the FX Productions entry. Leary and Serpico will executive produce, with Tom Sellitti also on board to co-exec produce.
“We’ve enjoyed a great relationship with Denis, Jim and Tom through seven years of Rescue Me, and I believe they found the perfect project to continue that relationship,” FX head of series development and FX Productions executive vp Eric Schrier said in a statement announcing the pickup Wednesday. “Dean Lorey has taken this unique police squad and created a hilarious and surprising world of characters and situations.”
