FX has picked up the rights to Seth MacFarlane‘s Ted.
The male-skewing cable network announced Monday that it has picked up the weekend’s No. 1 film, acquiring Universal Pictures’ Mark Wahlberg-Mila Kunis comedy for its commercial television premiere.
The pickup brings to 13 the number of No. 1 films that have landed at FX this year, including The Avengers, Men In Black III, Snow White and the Huntsman and Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted.
FX continues to be home to such male-dominated fare including Charlie Sheen’s comeback vehicle, Anger Management, as well as comedies including Louie and Wilfred.
Ted, the buddy comedy about a guy and his foul-mouthed teddy bear, debuted to $54.1 million at the domestic box office this weekend, the best showing ever for an original R-rated comedy.
