The unifying pop culture phenomenon of Game of Thrones has finally come to a close, and fans took to social media Sunday night to discuss the finale of the epic fantasy series. Some of the show’s highest-profile fans, including former castmember Pedro Pascal, horror author extraordinaire Stephen King and The Masked Singer winner T-Pain, were among the vocal group.
Here are some of the best celebrity reactions:
King, who is no stranger to seeing his books adapted for the screen, wrote that he would be more interested in a series following Arya Stark on her post-finale journey to explore what’s West of Westeros than a prequel about the kingdom itself.

Patton Oswalt praised the lead-up to naming Bran the Broken as the new king of the Six Kingdoms.
1/ Most hopeful scene from last night’s #GameOfThonesFinale was the table discussion near the end. Sanitation, construction— boring civic concerns that make life 1000% more liveable. That’s how it’s SUPPOSED to be. THAT’S why you step up to govern.

While TV personality Jemele Hill questioned that choice.
So Bran gets to be king, despite the fact that he just put his name on the group project and didn’t do any work. #DemThrones

Desus Nice, host of Showtime’s Desus & Mero talk show, seemed less than impressed with the ultimate outcome of the series.
y’all did this for 8 years???

Dane Cook seemed to second that opinion by sharing a Hodor-themed meme.

Pedro Pascal, meanwhile, defended the show that sent him off in one of the series’ most memorable deaths.
Shut up, it was perfect. #GameofThrones

Major Game of Thrones fan T-Pain, who live-tweeted each episode of season eight for a growing following online, was torn about the ultimate ending of the series.
Bruh I’m so stuck right now. I didn’t think shit was bout to go down like that. I mean. I prolly woulda smashed one more time if I knew the plan. @HBO @GameOfThrones #GoT #Season8 #DemThrones #TheFinalEpisode

Blink-182 member Mark Hoppus thought the ultimate outcome of the series seemed familiar.
Sansa won the popular vote but Bran had the electoral college.

Diplo was proud of a previous prediction, which, given some thought, did sort of come true.

Elizabeth Banks was moved the most by Ser Brienne of Tarth’s final tribute to Jaime Lannister.
The only time I teared up was when #Brienne wrote what she done wrote. #GameOfThones

Comedian Michelle Collins was happy that Jon Snow was finally able to follow through on the heroic promise he’d kept at bay for so many years.
I had to rewind to believe my eyes that Jon Snow finally did something #GameofThrones

Whitney Cummings called out the real-world parallels for viewers complaining about the person in power.
Please use the #GOT hashtag when complaining about the wrong person being in power because if you don’t specify it just sounds like you’re talking about the actual news

After calling out the series’ woman problem with the Queen of Dragons twist, Annapurna founder Megan Ellison said she was disappointed by the ending but still credited the show for its overall impact.
Well, I didn’t think it could get any worse… but then it did. This doesn’t bode well for Star Wars. #GameofThrones

I truly love Game of Thrones. While I’m disappointed with how it ended (I’m just going to pretend it ended after Arya killed the Night King) I want to thank all the people who made this story possible. It’s rare to get to care this much about a story, so thank you for the gift.

And the Twitter account for a show that aired its final new episode in 2007, four years before Game of Thrones premiered, tweeted a very timely (though confounding) meme.
We all know who the real king is. pic.twitter.com/BrkQju7ihA

Other famous fans, meanwhile, were not in the right time zone to watch the action go down live.
My theory:
Sansa ends up on the Iron Throne
Arya becomes the hand of the Queen
Daenerys kills Jon Snow
Arya kills Daenerys
Tyrion continues to sh*t the bed
And I miss all of it because I’m traveling. #gameofthrones @SophieT pic.twitter.com/VxQxkzH6Ah— Jessica Chastain (@jes_chastain) May 19, 2019
