The Mother of Dragons is setting the record straight about her feelings on nudity and gratuitous scenes.
On Wednesday morning, Emilia Clarke, who stars as Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones, posted to her Instagram that she is not against nudity or explicit scenes if they serve a purpose for character or plot development in a story.
“In drama, if a nude scene forwards a story or is shot in a way that adds insight into characters, I’m perfectly fine with it. Sometimes explicit scenes are required and make sense for the characters/story, as they do in Westeros,” Clarke said in her social media post.
On Tuesday, it was widely reported that the Terminator Genisys star told a British publication that explicit sex scenes made her “cringe,” which Clarke said Wednesday was taken out of context.
“If it’s gratuitous for gratuitous sake, then I will discuss with a director on how to make it more subtle. In either case, like a good Mother of Dragons, I’m always in control,” Clarke said on Instagram.
