FX’s upcoming George Lopez comedy Saint George has added its first pupil.
Newcomer Tobit Raphael has joined the cast of the multicamera comedy, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
STORY: George Lopez’s 10/90 Comedy Lands at FX
The 10/90 comedy centers on the chaotic life of a recently divorced working-class Mexican-American who becomes a successful entrepreneur. Lopez is set to portray a man who struggles to balance his demanding ex-wife, his 11-year-old son, his overbearing mother who just moved in and his uncle as well as his new role as a philanthropist “giving back” by teaching history once a week at night school.
Raphael, whose credits include The Internship, will recur as Walden, a bright and socially awkward student in George’s class. The actor is a recent graduate of UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television and played one of the lead interns at Google in the Vince Vaughn feature.

Saint George was co-created by Lopez, Matt Williams (Roseanne) and David McFadzean, with the trio set to co-write the first episode. The men, along with 3 Arts’ Michael Rotenberg (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Dete Meserve and Judd Payne will serve as executive producers on the project, which begins production this month. Lionsgate TV is set to produce in association with Wind Dancer Films, Travieso Productions and 3 Arts Entertainment.
Raphael, repped by Talent Works and Eileen O’Farrell Management, joins a cast that includes Danny Trejo, who will play the uncle to Lopez’s character.
