Paramount TV is looking to revive Ghost for the small screen.
The company’s newly launched TV division has tapped Oscar winner Akiva Goldsman and Fringe‘s Jeff Pinkner to co-write a pilot for the series based on the 1990 hit film of the same name.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Akiva and Jeff, two deeply creative and accomplished talents, on the television adaptation of this classic supernatural drama,” Paramount Television president Amy Powell said in a statement announcing the news Tuesday.
Paramount TV has been billed as a startup division within the company to leverage existing properties as well as original ideas to finance and develop for all platforms. The studio was involved with Shawn Ryan‘s high-profile Beverly Hills Cop pilot, which ultimately didn’t move forward at CBS earlier this year.
In this case, Ghost garnered Oscars for best original screenplay and best supporting actress two-plus decades ago, and received nominations for best picture, best film editing and best original score.
Goldsman, whose credits include A Beautiful Mind and I Am Legend, is repped by CAA; Pinkner, who has significant TV experience on Fringe and Alias, is repped by WME.
