The ATX Television Festival is gearing up for its fourth edition with two major reunions.
The festival will unite the cast and creator of Gilmore Girls as well as all of the all-star writers from the Dawson’s Creek writers’ room.
The annual event, set for June 4-7 in Austin, will also feature a mini Journeyman reunion as part of the festival’s “Canceled Too Soon” panels. Creator Kevin Falls, director Alex Graves and star Kevin McKidd will all be in attendance.
Also confirmed to participate in various panels are Kathleen McCaffrey, director of HBO original programming; Beau Willimon (House of Cards); Justified‘s Graham Yost; Parenthood’s David Hudgins; The Goldbergs’ Doug Robinson; The West Wing‘s Eli Attie; Everybody Loves Raymond‘s Phil Rosenthal; and Fargo showrunner Noah Hawley.
Two community screenings are scheduled, including Friday Night Lights (June 5) and Hasbro’s Saturday morning cartoons (Saturday).
For the Gilmore Girls reunion, stars Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel will attend, along with series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino. “Gilmore was the highlight of my ridiculous life. I can’t wait to sit with these unbelievable broads and relive a time where sleep did not exist, where stress and coffee were mama’s little helpers and where we all dove in to the deep end together to make something weird and very, very cool,” Sherman-Palladino said.

The Dawson’s Creek writers’ room reunion — the first of its kind at the festival — will feature series creator/showrunner Kevin Williamson, showrunner Greg Berlanti (Arrow), producers/writers/assistants Jenny Bicks (The Big C), Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries), Rob Thomas (Veronica Mars), Liz Tigelaar (Life Unexpected), Paul Stupin (Beverly Hills, 90210), Rina Mimoun (Red Band Society), Maggie Friedman (Witches of East End), Anna Fricke (Everwood), Gina Fattore (Gilmore Girls) and Dana Baratta (Life Is Wild).
“Dawson’s Creek and Kevin Williamson changed my life and gave me a career,” Berlanti said. “Nothing could be more exciting then to be back with so many people I respect and admire than my fellow writers from the show … and our amazing creator, Kevin.”
ATX has also kicked off submissions for its third annual Pitch Competition, featuring judges Kyle Killen (Awake), former AMC development exec Scott Pennington and Anonymous Content’s Keith Redman. (Additional judges will be announced later.) Participants can submit a 90-second video pitching their original idea for a scripted series. Ten finalists will compete at ATX with a live pitch before the panel of judges. Submissions will be accepted from Dec. 5-Jan. 16 via ATXFestival.com/pitch. Twenty-five finalists will be announced Feb. 27, with the top 10 unveiled April 17.
Other new additions to the festival include ATX Ambassadors, appointed spokespeople for the festival who represent an understanding of the events and its goals. The inaugural class includes Wilson Cruz (Red Band Society), Matt Lauria (Kingdom) and Nick Wechsler (Revenge).
