Disney Channel’s Boy Meets World follow-up Girl Meets World is losing a character.
Actor Teo Halm, who in March had been cast as Elliot, Cory and Topanga’s teenage son and older sibling to titular world-meeter Riley, will no longer be in the upcoming series, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.
Halm broke the news over the weekend on Twitter: “So guys, Disney decided that it wouldn’t work to have an older brother on the show; I won’t be on Girl Meets World. Thank you to everyone.”

Danielle Fishel, who is reprising her role as Topanga on Girl Meets World, wrote back less than 20 minutes later: “Teo, you are an incredible talent and I adore you. You may still call me ‘mom.’ “
A spokesperson for Disney Channel issued a statement to THR, noting that “various creative changes are often made as a project transitions from pilot to series.”
Disney Channel greenlighted a series order for Girl Meets World in June. It will premiere in 2014.
