If Girls viewers thought that Desi (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) standing Marnie (Allison Williams) up at their show meant that the couple’s engagement was off, that’s not what the fifth season’s first full trailer suggests.
After a teaser of Hannah (Lena Dunham) and her mom dancing like no one’s watching, the first full preview devotes a significant amount of footage to Marnie appearing to be getting ready to get married to, as Hannah puts it, “someone she barely knows.”
The trailer also features footage of Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) in Japan, where she triumphantly announced she was moving in the season finale.

“You know how people say that you can’t run away from your problems?,” Shoshanna says. “Well I moved away from mine and it worked so people are so wrong.”
As for Hannah, she and new boyfriend Fran (Jake Lacy) are shown sleeping next to each other (as Hannah looks around nervously). They also grapple with her close relationship with Elijah (Andrew Rannells); Hannah and Elijah fake make out as Fran looks on awkwardly, with Elijah breaking free from the lip-lock to ask, “What are we supposed to not do this now that you’re around?”
Fran: “Maybe.”
The trailer offers less of a sense of what’s in store for Jessa (Jemima Kirke) and Adam (Adam Driver) but viewers can see what all the Girls are up to when the show returns on Feb. 21 at 10 p.m. on HBO.
