‘Glee’s’ Christmas Episode Guest Star: Chewbacca

Glee‘s Christmas episode is getting a bit hairy.

Star Wars’ Chewbacca has become the latest “guest star” to appear on the Fox musical dramedy.

Weeks after several Glee co-stars — including Chris Colfer, Harry Shum Jr. and Mark Salling — tweeted photos from the set with Chewbacca, the Wookie’s appearance has finally been explained.

Matthew Morrison, who directs next week’s Christmas one-off, told ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live that the episode features a special within the episode that’s a throwback to the Star Wars holiday special and the Judy Garland Christmas special.

“We called George Lucas and they gave us Chewbacca,” Morrison told Kimmel, noting that the cast members all snapped photos with the Star Wars icon and while confirming that the Wookie’s visit to Glee did not feature a song.

Glee’s Christmas episode, which will feature at least six holiday songs, airs Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. on Fox.
