Glee is adding a former Melrose Place psycho to its ranks.
As first reported by TV Line, Calabro will play Puck’s estranged father in the 18th episode of the season, slated to air in April.
Calabro joins the previously cast Gina Hecht — who first appeared in Glee‘s freshman season — as the Mohawk king’s mother.
Casting the series regulars’ parents and family members has been a big theme as the musical dramedy’s third season continues to march toward the graduation of the show’s seniors — including Puck, Lea Michele‘s Rachel, Chris Colfer’s Kurt and Cory Monteith’s Finn, among others.
More recently, Glee enlisted White Collar‘s Matt Bomer to portray Cooper Anderson — brother to Darren Criss‘ Blaine — for an April turn. In addition, the series has enlisted Jeff Goldblum and Brian Stokes Mitchell as Rachel’s gay dads, while Gloria Estefan has been tapped to play the mother to Naya Rivera‘s Santana. Sam (Chord Overstreet) and Mike’s (Harry Shum Jr.) parents also have appeared this season.
Not to be left out, guidance counselor Emma’s (Jayma Mays) parents have popped up this season.
Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy told THR in July that he and co-creator Brad Falchuk asked Glee fans what they wanted to see and that meeting the characters’ parents continues to be high on their list of demands.
“Across the board, a huge amount of fans want to see parents,” he said at the time. “That’s not to say we’re going to heavily feature them, but I think it’s interesting to see some of them — not all of them.”
Calabro’s credits include NCIS and The CW’s recent reboot of Melrose Place, in which he reprised the psycho doctor.
